Children deserve our unconditional respect & trust. I did not mention unconditional love because parents inherit it. Allah Subhana wa tala has never commanded in the Quran "to love your child," He knows we will; He has created us. Rather respecting children is the need of educated parents. Unconditional trust means not to belittle them if they cannot reach your expectations.
"What if you failed this exam, you can achieve many other things in life."
Allah has bestowed every one with innate potentials. Children learn best when they we respect them, their interest & their passions. To be respected is every child’s right. The upbringing experiences children undergo should not be filled with fear, rejection & insecurities.
Children have an innate moral compass, they have more sense of right & wrong. Every intellect can polish his talents if he knows he is not coerced, not pushed, not forced to do something. Some great discoveries required lack of pressure, leisure, free time & respectful communication.
Give positive hopes to the child to achieve worthwhile goals in life. We teach them competing their friends by comparing them with their classfellows. Which in the end spoils their friendship & helps them meet their goals by not knowing who they are? What they're actually capable of achieving?
