With my threenager me & my husband are always on a hunt for parks in and around Doha. Where to take her in the Autumn fall and winters? There are certain explorations, few in summer nights so the pictures shall be dark, because I dare not step out in that skin burning sun!
1. Aqua Park Qatar
Aqua park usually closes in winters and reopens in April. Easily found on Google maps, away from the city in the outskirts. Food is not allowed inside, because they encourage you buy from their food shops (Boston Chicken, Karaks, Magic corns, Popcorns and Crepes). Some areas include adult slides and have an age limit. However, many tubes and safety jackets are available for tiny ones.
2. Souq Waqif Park
Souq Waqif Park is just new, it opened last year in 2015. A breathtaking view of Corniche, this park is in the middle of the Mishereb city. Has few swings, a boat and a slide, a small tea, milk shakes and karak shop, along with many adult exercising machines. Allows bikes and scooties. Has an open amphitheater too. The pictures are not of good guality, as they are taken at night with a mobile, soon I shall upload daylight pictures of this beautiful park. You too try to reach at 4pm to enjoy the view unlike us we got. A convenient underground parking with lift, for disabled too.
3. Al Waab Family Park
This park is fully gated, secured for small kids, has an outdoor Football court. All types of slides, see-saws, toddler swings. Toilets are kept clean, offers a drinking spout. Easily found on Google maps. Excellent for families living in Al Waab, near Bustan street or Al Azzizya
4. Aspire Park
Aspire is famous because it is the first well irrigated green Park in Qatar, huge, has a beautiful man-made lake with geese and ducks, often spotted Koi fish in the lake. Boating option is available at specific times, the security guards carry free drinking water in their carts which transfer old citizens and disabled to parking space. Aspire zone is huge and can be approached from different parts of the city, Muraikh or Al Waab etc However cycling is now mamnoo'a despite having wide tracks. Attractions: Lake, Fountain bridge, playarea, mosque and sandpit, Doha Torch is seen from everywhere lol. Caffe's & Fast food; Burgeri, Aspire Cafe', Sugar & Spice
5. Al Hitmi Park in Bin Omran
This park is 3 years old. A mosque in close proximity for females and males. It is a house for many stray cats! Would be a good option if your child likes swings. A walking track is available without any exercising machines. Well gated.
6. Dahl Al Hammam Park
This park is huge with multiple activities for kids. A skateboarding area, climbing frames, sand area etc
7. Park and Shop Park
This park is found on Google maps in Arabic. However, I will share the map below. It is like Al Waab family park. It is secured, gated and well shaded. Located in Ain Khaled, very close to Park and Shop Supermarket
8. Fereej Al Soudan Family Park
Very near to those living in al Waab, around al waab Petrol Station, Woqood. Clean toilets, many grassy patches. The mosque is right infront (however, I have not spotted a ladies section)
A basketball court.
A basketball court.
9. Azziza Parkحديقة العزيزية للعائلات
A good sized park, well gated, with a tiny fountain. Reachable via Azziziya and Ain Khaled, a bit further from Al Waab but worth a try. Mosque allocated alongside. There is a donation box for cloths, blankets, toys etc right infront of the main gate.
